Event Description:
The educational program will be provided by Mark Dietrick of Case Technologies.  Below is a summary of the program:

Rapid developments in technology are continuing to transform design, construction, and facilities operations processes; significantly impacting project delivery expectations and requirements.

The use of Building Information Modeling for analytical, performance-based design, and to optimize construction coordination and management processes is now commonplace with well-demonstrated efficiencies. Laser scanning and other forms of reality capture have quickly become the norm for more efficiently and accurately documenting existing conditions and construction sequencing. Additionally, “Digital Twins” of important assets are now being used by operators to maintain their facilities more effectively.
As a result of these technological advantages, forward-thinking facilities owners are beginning to not only expect higher levels of technology use on their projects but are now requiring it in order to deliver their projects more efficiently, and to provide them with data that may be more readily used in the costly operations and maintenance phase.

This presentation will highlight and demonstrate how various technologies are being required by facility owners and being employed throughout a projects life cycle to drive higher levels of quality and efficiencies. We will also demonstrate how as-built digital deliverables are being used to maintain and operate facilities more effectively and to more efficiently plan and produce renovation and retrofit work.

We will also consider emerging potential processes which are becoming more realistic as technology use continues to become more commonplace, such as pre-fabrication and more modular design and construction. Furthermore, we will contemplate how emerging Artificial Intelligence and Big Data applications may improve the way in which technology drives our processes.
